Ms. Sherneice Gatewood is the CEO of We Are Phenomenal Women (W.A.P.W) which launched in 2015. W.A.P.W advocates and dedicated to representing the needs of those abused by Domestic Violence. W.A.P.W is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization committed to advocating for all abused persons of Domestic Violence. Ms. Sherneice Gatewood earned her Bachelor in Human Services, from Touro College and is Oasas certified in Intimate Partner Violence and Domestic Violence.
W.A.P.W is a group of diverse women who are survivors of Domestic Violence. Now advocates who share their stories of coping skills and victories of overcoming their abuser(s). W.A.P.W free groups are held in a safe space environment of healing, trust and love. W.A.P.W stories consist of domestic violence, molestation, bullying and post- traumatic stress syndrome (PTSD) that's associated with domestic violence.
Ms. Sherneice Gatewood is able to relate and bring domestic violence awareness to the forefront as a survivor of domestic violence and molestation. She launched W.A.P.W to support at risk women by providing free services and workshops on domestic violence prevention. Ms. Sherneice Gatewood won three grants for W.A.P.W to date. She is now fighting for a bill to pass for strict consequences for bullying which led to death.
Ms. Sherneice Gatewood is committed to serving her community. Her victory came when she began to speak out about her abuse with no help. For years she suffered in silence and isolation, while raising a child. Today she returns the favor by creating safe spaces for women to discuss their issues in group and find the solutions. W.A.P.W provides emotional support, recommendations and help with the recovery process once freed from their abuser(s).
W.A.P.W empowers women of all ages to take back control from their abuser(s) through wisdom and expert advice through guest speakers. W.A.P.W conducts workshops at various locations and has a home site in Harlem NYC. W.A.P.W free workshops meet once a week. Each group is designed to restore positive values within women, restore self-love and help with information regarding the complexities and challenges to escape harm.
Ms.Sherneice Gatewood has participated on several panels to discuss Domestic Violence and Empowering Women. Sherneice Gatewood continues to receive plaque’s various awards and recognition nominations for her work with W.A.P.W. recently, recognized by National Action Network (Al Sharpton), Metropolitan Corrections Center for Women, Community Public Safety Partner and honored at Touro College in Harlem. Ms. Gatewood continues to spread the awareness on various internet radio stations and cable television shows. W.A.P.W believes in giving back to the community by feeding the homeless, giving toys to the children in the shelter, collecting clothing and assisting with finding stability for those affected by domestic violence.
