Meet Sherneice Gatewood!
Sherneice Gatewood’s journey to becoming a beacon of hope for survivors of domestic violence began with her own harrowing experience at the age of 18.
Trapped in an abusive relationship, she lived with her abuser in a small, hidden room where she was forced to endure unimaginable conditions. Her abuser’s mother was unaware of her presence, and Sherneice was confined to using a 5-gallon bucket as a makeshift restroom, which her abuser would discard. The physical, emotional, and psychological toll was immense, but it was a moment of desperation that ultimately ignited her courage to leave.
One night, after a brutal attack, Sherneice lay on the floor, physically and emotionally shattered. Her 3-year-old child, too young to understand the depth of the pain, tried to pull her up off the floor. That moment of clarity shattered the chains of silence and fear that had held her captive. Sherneice made the brave decision to leave the relationship, prioritizing her and her child’s safety. It was the first step toward reclaiming her life and breaking free from the cycle of abuse.
Sherneice’s healing journey began with therapy, where she found the strength to confront her trauma and rebuild her sense of self-worth. Through this process, she discovered a newfound purpose—to be a voice for other women who felt voiceless, just as she had once been. Her resilience and determination to overcome her past set her on a path of transformation and empowerment.
Despite the obstacles, Sherneice returned to school later in life, earning her bachelor’s degree in human services from Touro College. Years later, she continued her educational journey, ultimately achieving an MBA, a testament to her perseverance and commitment to personal growth.
Today, Sherneice is a certified Life Coach and Career Coach, dedicated to helping others realize their potential and find the strength to rewrite their own stories.
